Abdulbasit Salahudeen Mikail has seven years of experience in social development and is passionate about youth inclusion, climate action, and building the next generation of the workforce. He takes pride in empowering young people and ensuring that underrepresented communities and individuals are visible to the government and development partners. He utilizes data and stories to inform advocacy, policy, and interventions.
Abdulbasit is a certified educator from the Federal College of Education, Zaria, and he is currently studying Information Science at Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria. He is a recipient of the Solving Public Problems Accelerator Fellowship from the Burnes Institution for Social Change and the TransparencIT Civic Change Makers Fellowship. He possesses strong skills and experience in program management, grant management, research, monitoring and evaluation (M&E), data management and analysis, policy analysis and advocacy, communication, community management, and multi-stakeholder engagement. He has contributed to the development of policy briefs and articles and has participated in numerous physical and virtual speaking engagements as a guest speaker and moderator globally. Notably, he was a youth delegate at COP28 in Dubai, UAE.
Abdulbasit has actively contributed to various initiatives as a member of the Nigeria Youth Task Team for the African Youth Partnership Project, a member of the Yomaworld Youth Council, and an African HEY Campaign Ambassador. As the co-founder of BYY Innovations, he has provided entrepreneurship, soft skills, and digital skills training—such as basic digital literacy, graphic design, digital marketing, and data analysis—to 1,500 young people in Zaria and Sabon Gari Local Government Areas of Kaduna State, preparing them for a more competitive global workforce. He has also co-led the Digital Tribe program of Tech4dev, coordinating the training of 181 girls, women, individuals with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups in Kaduna State.
Additionally, he participated in training 400 secondary school students in basic digital literacy and graphic design for the AGILE project, implemented by the Shecode Africa Kaduna Chapter.
As a communication director, he played a key role in organizing the inaugural TEDxFCEZaria event for 350 young people and has been involved in the annual World Entrepreneurship Day Zazzau, which has positively impacted 420 entrepreneurs from Kano, Kaduna, and Abuja.
Currently, he is serving as a core team member organizing the KADA SMEs Bootcamp and is the youth advisory council lead for Comic Relief US. Abdulbasit is also a co-founder of BYY Innovations.
